Bike Tour in Cologne: Classic Ride, Street Art, E-Bike or Christmas Tour?
4 min read
For a first visit, the 3-hour guided bike tour is the straightforward choice: it covers the main sights on a route of about 15 kilometres and is offered in English and German. The other three tours change one thing each: the district, the bike, or the season.
The four tours compared
| Tour | Length | Language | Bike | Notes |

| Ehrenfeld Street Art Bike Tour | 3 hours | English, German | City bike, e-bike upgrade on site | Two meeting points |
| Guided E-Bike Panorama Tour | 3.5 hours | English, German | E-bike | From 155 cm height |
| “Christmas Magic” Guided Tour by Bike | 3 hours | English | Bike rental listed | Up to 15 people |
The classic tour
The 3-hour tour costs €42.90 and is rated 4.8 from 979 reviews. It starts at Colonia Aktiv, Gereonswall 2, and the page’s stops include the Eigelstein gate, the Zoobrücke, the Rheinpark, the Hohenzollern Bridge, the cathedral, Alter Markt and the Rheinauhafen with its crane houses. The page lists a guide, bicycle rental, a helmet and a rain poncho; whether food, drink and tips are covered is on the booking page. The itinerary marks the break at Alter Markt as optional, with an extra fee. A private option is available, with up to 15 people either way.
The street art tour
The street art tour costs €42.90 and is rated 4.9 from 108 reviews. It leaves the centre for the Belgian Quarter and Ehrenfeld, with a break in a local café, which the itinerary marks as optional, with an extra fee. The page lists a city bike with an e-bike upgrade on site, and warns that you must be able to ride a bike and feel comfortable in road traffic. It has two meeting points, depending on the option you choose, so check yours before you book.
The e-bike tour
The e-bike tour costs €62.90 and runs 3.5 hours, the longest of the four. The page promises that the e-bike makes Cologne’s small hills easy and includes the Südstadt and a café break, which the itinerary marks as optional, with an extra fee. E-bikes are for guests from 1.55 m in height. Children and teenagers ride e-bikes only with a legal guardian’s consent and enough height; there are no children’s e-bikes, but children can join on a city bike, and child seats are available for small children. The page says the tour is not for people who cannot ride a bike.
The Christmas bike tour
The Christmas tour costs €44.90 and is described as exclusive to the Christmas period. It rides past lit-up streets and several Christmas markets, with a short break at the stalls for local food, mulled wine or cocoa; ask the operator whether that is paid for. The booking calendar shows which days it runs, and the cathedral and Neumarkt markets are open from 16 November to 23 December 2026; for market dates and tour options, see our Christmas markets guide.
What we would book
- First visit, English: the 3-hour classic tour.
- Second visit or an interest in street art: the Ehrenfeld tour.
- You prefer not to pedal hard: the e-bike tour, if everyone is at least 1.55 m tall.
- Visiting in the Christmas season: the Christmas bike tour.
If you would rather see the centre on foot, see the Old Town tour comparison, and for a bus with audio commentary the hop-on hop-off guide. All bike options are on the bike and bus tours page.
